    The star-shaped fort associated with the writing of the national anthem overlooks the harbor near Locust Point. There is a visitor center, and the grounds can be walked.

  2. The Inner Harbor promenade

    A waterfront walk that connects the Maryland Science Center, the USS Constellation, the National Aquarium and several other historic vessels. It is the classic Baltimore group picture.

  3. Fells Point

    A historic waterfront neighborhood with a maritime feel and one of the highest concentrations of pubs and restaurants in the city.

  4. Federal Hill Park

    A hilltop park above the harbor that is easy to reach from the Inner Harbor, and a good place to look back across the water.

    A short excursion on its own that stops at Harborplace, the National Aquarium, the Maryland Science Center, Little Italy, Fells Point, Canton Waterfront Park and Fort McHenry.

How the light works

The harbor is at its best in the morning, when the water is calm and the promenade is quiet. Old ships and brick warehouses look warmest in low light, and Fort McHenry's open grounds give you a big sky. At sail-away the ship heads down the channel and the city shrinks behind the wake.

Before you board

The Cruise Maryland Terminal is at 2001 East McComas Street in South Locust Point, outside the main sightseeing area. The Inner Harbor is about three miles away, a 10 to 20 minute taxi or rideshare depending on downtown traffic. The ships that sail from Baltimore change from season to season, so confirm your terminal and boarding time on your documents.
