Gastown and the Steam Clock
A ten minute walk from the terminal, with pub food, craft beer and the famous steam clock, which whistles every hour. The old brick buildings make a good backdrop.
Stanley Park and the Seawall
A park of nearly 1,000 acres a short taxi or bike ride from Canada Place, with the Seawall, billed as the world's longest uninterrupted waterfront path, and Indigenous totem poles.
Granville Island Public Market
About three miles from Canada Place, a 15 minute taxi ride, with fresh seafood, local cheeses, pastries and artisan shops in a lively indoor market.
The Capilano Suspension Bridge
A swaying bridge hung 230 feet above a river canyon. The park runs a free shuttle that picks up directly from Canada Place, which makes the logistics easy.
The waterfront by the terminal
Canada Place sits right on the harbor, with mountains across the water. A picture at the rail before you board sets up the whole trip.
How the light works
The North Shore mountains sit across the harbor, so on a clear day the backdrop from the waterfront is spectacular, and in the late afternoon it turns gold. Vancouver often has soft, overcast mornings that are gentle on faces. Stanley Park's tall trees give dappled light, so find the open clearings for group pictures.
Before you go ashore
Canada Place is the cruise terminal on the downtown waterfront. Gastown is a ten minute walk, the Capilano bridge shuttle picks up at the terminal, and Stanley Park and Granville Island are a short taxi ride away. Sailings from Vancouver cross the border, so keep your passport and documents to hand before you board.
